Rouessé was mentioned for the first time in 1110 when the lord Geoffroy of Rouessé signed a text on the subject of Avesnière (1).

Belonging to the XV° century to the earths of Saint-Berthevin (53), Rouessé was restored about 1636 by the family of Meaulne.

The enlarged castle is endowed with wide windows. Because of military disturbances, two square houses were added to protect itself (2).

This former abode belonged to the family of Alain Gerbault, a great navigator at the beginning of the XX° century. He was born in Mayenne.

Since 2003, this manor relives thanks to his new owner : Mrs Kronneberg.
